Farncombe Invest in New CETC at Fareham College 

We are pleased to confirm Farncombe Construction are investing in the New CETC at Fareham College

Construction of the £4.1m Civil Engineering Training College (CETC) commenced on 18th January. The CETC is the first of its kind in the UK providing a home for those candidates enrolled on the Civil Engineering Groundworks Apprenticeship (CEGA)

Ronald Macdonald House

Works have commenced on this Project, delivering a home away from home for families with Children admitted to hospital for a long term, in conjuctionwith Wilmott Dixon and Ronald Macdonald House Charaties.
The house will consist of 62 Bedrooms, as well as as communal areas and an enclosed garden outside, with Farncombe working on the foundations, ground floor slab, drainage and external works sections of the building.

ISO 45001 added to ISO's for 9001 and 14001.

Farncombe Construction are pleased to announce we have been awarded the ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) 

This award confirms our commitment to health and safety, and is testament to the positive culture the business has developed.

Matt joins as an Employee

Congratulations to Matt on finishing his Apprenticeship and we are pleased to confirm he is coming on board full-time after a short break for a Holiday.

Matt thoroughly deserves this and is looking forward to continuing his progress and learning more from his colleagues on site including Bricklaying and Street-works accreditations

Woodmansterne School

Progress at Woodmansterne School has been steady, despite the heat we have completed Stage 1 two weeks ahead of program.

Carnegie Library

Farncombe Construction have been awarded the contract for Groundworks required at this Historic Grade II listed Building.

Carnegie Library was built in 1906 and funded by Scotsman Andrew Carneige. It was closed in 2016 due to funding cuts. The development program includes the addition of a Gym and a Cafe which will secure the long-term future of the Library.

Woodmansterne School

The month of May saw the commencement of the MUGA Stair / Terrace installation, including the concrete foundation pours, installation of kerbs, edgings and the installation of the blockwork to the terrace area.

May also saw works continue in the car park area, including installation of Kerbs / Edgings, build up of type 1 stone and the installation of Service Ducts and Lamp Post Sleeves.


Matthew Horner has successfully completed his Ride on Roller and Forward Tipping Dumper CPCS Course.

Update - April 2018


Woodmansterne School

The month of April saw the installation of the 2-Metre-High Pre-Cast Concrete Retaining Walls to the MUGA, including the reduce level dig, reinforcement to the foundation, the foundation concrete pour and waterproofing details.

April also saw the continuation of the Service Ducts to the East, North and South Elevations of the building as well as the completion of the build up of stone to the East Elevation to facilitate the Tarmac surface laid there.

Bourne Mill

April saw us return to Bourne Mill to complete the Section 50 works. As part of this we installed new Kerbs and Edgings and re-laid Tarmac to the Footpath area.


Greg Migret has successfully completed his on-site assessment for the Slinger / Signaller and Forward Tipping Dumper NVQ’s.

Alfie Cole has successfully completed his CPCS Competent Operator Excavator course, as well as his NVQ Level 2 Skilled Worker exam.

Trevor Hammond and Lee Cardy have successfully completed their Site Supervision Safety Training Course. 

ISO 9001 & 14001 Certification Achieved

Following 6 months of endeavour, Farncombe Construction are pleased to announce that we have been awarded certification in ISO 9001 (Quality) and 14001 (Environmental), confirming our commitment to the quality of the services we offer and our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

The organisation would like to thank David Babb and Arpan Painter for their efforts in helping us achieve the certification.

Apprentice of the Month

It is with pleasure that the company can announce that Matthew Horner has won the Co- Train apprentice of the month for February. Matthew has been with the company for just over a year and has thrown himself into every task that has been asked of him. We would like to congratulate Matthew on his achievement. Matthews next step is to take his dumper and roller NVQ which is organised for April this year.

Appointment of Office Administrator

Dominic Farncombe-Smith has joined Farncombe Construction as an Office Administrator. As part of his duties, Dominic will be assisting with Tender Enquiries, Industry Accreditations and apprentices. Welcome to the company Dominic.

Training Update

Trevor Hammond and Lee Cardy are due to refresh their SSS qualification in late March.

Vehicle and Plant Update

We have just purchased a new Merlo telehandler, which conforms to Eu directives 2006/42/CE, 2014/30/EU and 2014/14/CE. This is part of our commitment to keeping our machinery as up to date and environmentally friendly as possible.
